Dr. Haris Dzubur

Dr. Haris Dzubur, a Chicago native, still holds the position of Director of Optometry at Family Eye Physicians. After completing his B.A.Sc in Biological and Physical Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he moved to Texas for Optometry school.

He completed an internship at the Orlando Veterans Administration Hospital, Viera Outpatient Clinic, where his training was focused on vision debilitating eye diseases such as macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. He went on to Miami to receive additional training in the management of ocular surface diseases with Dan and Hoffman Eye Associates and finished his final training in fitting specialty contact lenses in Ft. Lauderdale with Dr. Kenneth E Mailer. Dr. Dzubur graduated with his doctorate in Optometry from the Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio in 2014 before returning back to his hometown.

Dr. Dzubur's extensive training shaped his belief in promoting the very best in optometry practices which led him to found and establish the, "Illinois Dry Eye Center of Excellence" at his previous clinic. His approach in diagnosing and treating his patients through a purely medical Optometry stance makes him one of the most highly sought out Dry Eye Specialists in the Midwest.

His thirst for knowledge didn't stop as a student but continued as he wanted to prepare the future generations of Optometrists and was appointed as an Adjunct Faculty Professor of Optometry at Midwestern University. He is actively involved in the clinical training and growth of his Optometry students.

In addition to training his students, Dr. Dzubur also serves as the President of the North Suburban Optometric Association. He enjoys lecturing and providing a platform for continuing education for his fellow colleagues in the industry. He also serves as a National Speaker for Eyevance Pharmaceuticals in which he uses his expertise and clinical experience to lecture on Dry Eye Disease, MGD/ Blepharitis, and Allergic Conjunctivitis.

Dr. Dzubur's special areas of interest include the management of dry eyes, keratoconus, and other cornea and contact lens-related issues, as well as sclera! contact lenses. He is highly trained in fitting specialty contact lenses ranging from keratoconus, Pellucid Marginal Degeneration, Degenerative Myopia, Aphakia, Aniridia, post corneal transplants to multifocal, prosthetic contact lenses, and lenses for otherwise difficult to fit prescriptions.
When he's not busy caring for his patients, lecturing, teaching or keeping up with the latest advancements, Dr, Dzubur is a Humanitarian at heart serving as a board member for a non-profit organization. He is also fluent in both Bosnian and Spanish.
A proud father and husband, Dr. Dzubur enjoys spending time with his family- often frequenting parks and soccer fields with his sons and his favorite Frenchie, Duke. Otherwise look for him on the golf course, playing soccer, or rooting for his favorite football team.

Majority of Dr. Dzubur's past experience has been in ocular disease and he's spent the majority of his career practicing full-scope medical optometry in Chicagoland. He is well-versed in diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and his specialty, dry eye disease. Dr. Dzubur also excels in fitting the latest in technology of contact lenses for all vision issues including myopia management and presbyopia.

After over three decades of service, Dr. Loretta DeKoster recently stepped down as owner of Melrose Eyecare. She is happy to be entrusting her patients' care to the new doctor and we are pleased that she will be staying on to see patients on a part-time basis.

Dr. De Koster is a board certified primary care optometrist. She is licensed in Illinois. Dr. De Koster graduated the University of Illinois with a B.A. and B.S. degree. She attended Harvard for one quarter on scholarship, and attended a externship in Dermatology at Mass. General Hospital. ICO graduate.

She performs comprehensive eye exams including testing and treatment for glaucoma. Diabetic eye exams wtih a letter sent to your primary care physician.

Testing is available for retinal and macular function if you are at high risk for macular degeneration. We offer treatment for ocular infections, allergies, dry eyes, computer vision syndrome, corneal foreign body removals, LASIK consultation, and CATARACT evaluation, consultation and in office co-management.

Dr. De Koster is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. She enjoys tennis, cycling, speed walking, reading, music, plays, concerts and travel.
